Puccini and the Eternal Feminine

Puccini.JPG (137188 bytes)

Third theatre play, recovering the image of the 19th century literary gatherings: theatre read and directed by the author, accompanied by soprano and pianist. The opening night was a cold one in February 1996 at the Centro Cultural de la Villa of Madrid, with a production of Enrique Cornejo. The benefits of the premiere where donated to PED (School Prevention against Drugs).

The act was presented by my dear friend Concha Marquéz Piquer. As an anecdote I remember the scandal that was produced by some of Concha's words with political connotation. But I must admit that thanks to that we appeared in all media, even in the evening news.

The pianist was usually Manuel Burguera, and the soprano always Adriana Molina, for whom this book was written. We went through France, Italy, and Spain during four years performing the play with constant overwhelming success of public and critics. Among the performances I remember most tenderly are that of the Palau de la Música at Valencia, the one of the Palace of the Holy See in Rome, arranged by the Accademia di Spagna and the Cervantes Institute, and of course the charitable gala in favour of the NGO "Apoyo Positivo" at my dear Albéniz Theater in Madrid. I want to remark the constant support of Mrs. Teresa Vico, director of the Albéniz.
